The new design included geocoded local news, multi-directional navigation, and browsing based on images rather then headlines.
Design Week included the redesign of latimes.com in its "Biggest Innovations of 2014" list, which included the year's best examples of digital-first newspaper design.
"These redesigns were hugely innovative because they represented a step change in the way we think about editorial design, by delivering customer focused solutions that forget format and instead think of reader’s needs," wrote News Editor Tom Banks.
