VIMBY (Video In My Back Yard) approached Code and Theory to produce a video content site devoted to capturing youth lifestyle and culture all over the nation. VIMBY brought with them substantial amounts of video content and a vision to create a national forum for community culture. Code and Theory, through design and development, launched an innovative site to showcase VIMBY’s unique content while creating simple functionality to enhance the user experience.
The site was organized into nine categories: Music, Life, Nightlife, Action Sports, Cars, Travel, Viral, Alternative, and Fashion. Each category contained its own library of videos, images and a custom designed player with features like rating and comments embedded to promote user interaction. In addition, the goal of creating a stronger community was met through the implementation of message boards, blogs, and event calendars located within each category. VIMBY needed to be a dynamic site, constantly growing with the creation of new content. Code and Theory’s site design supported VIMBY’s growth with a robust and admin-friendly content management and video distribution system that allowed VIMBY to evolve at the pace of popular culture.
